CRUNCH TIME FOR CLEMENT

- BY JOHN CROSS

PAUL CLEMENT believes Swansea can secure their Premier League safety, ahead of a make-or-break month.

The Swans face Burnley, Hull, Bournemouth and Middlesbrough in their next four games, which will go a long way to deciding their fate.

Manager Clement (above) believes there is more pressure on Swansea to win those games – starting against the Clarets on Saturday – than there was getting anything out of Chelsea.

He said: “It’s a little like the Leicester game. We were level on points with them, knew it was a big game, and put in a big performance to win.

“We have to do the same in the next game against Burnley.

“There’s arguably more pressure (than against Chelsea). The players know that but they’ve coped with it very well. We’ve continued to improve our performances and our shape – we don’t leave here with damaged confidence.

“Based on chances created, they deserved to win. But we had a big moment at 1-1. Who knows what would have happened had that penalty been awarded. It didn’t go our way at Chelsea. We move on.”

Clement also revealed a heart-to-heart with goalscorer Fernando Llorente persuaded the Spanish striker to stay.

He added: “I just told him I wanted him to stay. Bottom line is he’s here as a Swansea player, fully committed, and will be very important moving forward.”
