GEORGE Michael’s ex Kenny Goss has spoken of his heartbreak at the star’s death, and said the tragic singer was the love of his life.

The American gallery owner, who was with George for 13 years, said he has been unable to “fully let go” and is struggling to come to terms with the singer’s death on Christmas Day, aged 53.

Kenny, who George called Darlin’, also revealed he listens to his favourite track by him, A Different Corner, for comfort.

Speaking to NBC for a show that airs tonight, he said: “He was truly the love of my life. And I think I was the love of his life. I think we both wished certainly that we would have stayed together. I really miss him. You really miss him when you know that’s not an option any more.”

Kenny, 58, from Dallas, Texas, said he was having Christmas dinner with family and friends when George’s sister Melanie called to give him the news.

Describing the moment, he said simply: “I was in a zone.” Kenny and George split in 2009, although George did not reveal their break-up until 2011.

Kenny said: “We weren’t even mad at each other or anything like that. We just had a really good, sweet relationship.”

He added that no one would ever replace George, who told him after they split: “Darlin’, I want you to meet someone who will love and take care of you.”

Kenny said he did not even think they grew apart, adding: “Nor do I think George would have said that.” And he

recalled one of the last times he spoke to the former Wham! frontman – an hourslong chat in which he predicted Donald Trump would win the presidency.

Kenny said: “I told him, ‘Are you f ****** kidding me? There is no way’. George replied, ‘Darlin’, I’m sorry, but I really do believe it’s going to happen’.”

Kenny also spoke of George’s humour, recalling how he laughed off being outed after his 1998 arrest for a lewd act in a park.

He said George told him: “The most horrific thing was I was photographed with my shirt off and I was fat. Can you imagine two worse things than being fat and gay?” Kenny has never met George’s partner of four years, Fadi Fawaz, who found the star’s body in his home in Goring, Oxfordshire. He refused to talk about him.

He also declined to discuss the circumstances of George’s death and why he has yet to be buried, saying: “I know nothing about that.” Authorities have yet to issue an official cause of death.

But Kenny also told of George’s generosity. On his charity work, he said: “We always did that in England and we wanted to bring that to Dallas. His name helped so much when we were asking people to give.

“He just wrote huge cheques, enormous ones. He gave away tens of millions of pounds to charity.”

An example of George’s generosity is the recent revelation that he gifted £99,000 to Kenyan Aids charity Omwabini after he heard about its funding problems on Deal Or No Deal. In a letter to a newspaper over the weekend, Reverend Mary Austin, trustee of the Friends Of Omwabini, said: “George’s large donation in 2009 made a huge difference to the project.”
