A DRIVER attacked another woman in a road rage incident as their young children looked on.

Fatima Festus, 22, went berserk at Amilia Luby after “cutting her up”, stopping her at a junction and blaming a near miss on her victim.

As Festus’s six-monthold and Luby’s one-yearold watched, the attacker leapt out of her car raging: “My f***ing child’s in the back of my car.”

She stormed up to Miss Luby’s blue BMW, dragged her out and repeatedly punched her in the head.

A pal of Miss Luby’s tried to stop her but was hit in the stomach. The victim had a black eye, cut lip and swollen temple.

Festus, of Burnage, Greater Manchester, later said it was all a “bit of a blur”. She claimed Miss Luby had pulled out in front of her and said at the time she was “scared something might have happened to her young baby”. She is now expecting her second child.

Prosecutor Marion Nolan told Manchester magistrates the victim has been too scared to go out, since the attack in Didsbury in June.

But in defence Robert Moussalli said: “She was driving with her six month-old child in the back when Miss Luby pulled out. She felt very protective. She wishes she had acted differently.”

Magistrate Simon Morrell said: “This was road rage and super dangerous.”

Festus admitted assault and was given a 12-month community order, with 180 hours of unpaid work. She was also ordered to pay Miss Luby £200 and £235 in costs.
