OZIL OFFERED MASSIVE DEAL TO STAY PUT

- BY JOHN CROSS

MESUT OZIL has been made a huge £280,000-a-week offer to stay at Arsenal.

The Germany star has yet to decide on his future, despite having 15 months left on his contract, and there is a growing fear he will leave this summer.

Ozil is already Arsenal’s biggest earner on £140,000-a-week basic, which rises close to £200,000 a week with bonuses. But smashing through the £250,000 barrier would be new territory.

The playmaker is holding out, knowing he can get more money elsewhere, while there is also uncertainty over Alexis Sanchez.

It could signal the start of a big summer exodus which could also include Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has become increasingly frustrated at the Emirates.

The Gunners have yet to offer him a new deal, despite the England star’s contract expiring in 2018. Even if they do now start negotiations there is little chance he will sign.

Oxlade-Chamberlain believes he may need a move away to kickstart his England career, with Manchester United and Manchester City watching developments closely. Arsenal have a raft of players who are out of contract in 2018, with Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs yet to be offered anything.

Sanchez has been offered over £200,000 a week but will not commit himself, with Paris Saint-Germain leading the chase to

sign him this summer.
