Fellaini: Time for payback

- BY DAVID McDONNELL

MAROUANE FELLAINI says Manchester United are ready to take revenge on Chelsea.

United were hammered 4-0 at Stamford Bridge back in October, as Jose Mourinho endured a humiliating return to his former club.

Since that drubbing, United have gone 17 games unbeaten in the Premier League, the defeat proving a turning point in their season.

Fellaini (below) is confident Mourinho’s men can show their quality in Monday’s FA Cup quarter-final clash and ensure a different outcome against the Premier League leaders.

He said: “They’re top of the league, they have confidence, they have great players, but we’ll show our quality there and see what happens.

“It’ll be a tough game. Obviously we lost there a few months ago, but now it’s the FA Cup and we’ll see what happens.

“It’ll be tight, it’s the FA Cup, it’s one game.

“Of course they’re confident, so let’s go there and see what we can do.”

Fellaini also believes United will progress to the last eight of the Europa League, after earning a creditable 1-1 draw away at FC Rostov.

United host the Russian side in the return leg at Old Trafford on Thursday, with Fellaini confident Mourinho’s men will make home advantage count.

Reflecting on United’s draw at Rostov, Fellaini said: “It was a tough game – a hard game, a hard pitch.

“We scored a goal and, OK, we conceded a goal, so it’s 1-1, but it’s a good result for us.

“It was a tough game, a lot of duels, a lot of physicality so, yeah, it was tough but it is 1-1 and we have a big chance in Old Trafford.

“The second game will be at our place on a better pitch, with a better atmosphere, so we have a chance.

“We know the Rostov team better, the players. It will be a difficult game for them and will be completely different.

“We have to do the job at home.

“The pitch is bigger, there’s more space for us, so we know how to play there.

“We only want to go game-by-game, try to win the games and make the quarter-finals. Then we’ll see.”
