LUIS READY FOR FOXES FIGHT

- BY JAMES NURSEY

ATLETICO MADRID defender Filipe Luis reckons his side’s Champions League clash with Leicester will be close as both clubs “are fighters”.

Madrid are preparing to host Leicester in the last eight on April 12, before the second leg on April 18.

Luis reckons both clubs have achieved success against the odds after the Foxes won the Premier League last term, while Diego Simeone’s side have made the Champions League final in two of the last three seasons.

Brazil’s former Chelsea defender Luis (left) said: “There are similarities between Atletico and Leicester. We both play in leagues where our budgets don’t compete with the top two or three clubs.

“But we have both been able to achieve special things because we have been the clubs that have played the most as a team.

“We are both teams where everybody works for each other, everybody fights for each other – so these two games I expect will be very competitive.” Luis expects to have ex-Liverpool and Chelsea forward Fernando Torres available for the tie.

Torres suffered a sickening head injury against Deportivo La Coruna at the start of the month but Luis added: “It is important Fernando is back because he is a key player.

“He has a lot of experience playing against English opposition.”
