Kate charms Irish as prince returns
THE Duchess of Cambridge takes the lead as Prince William finally gets back to work after his dad-dancing antics on a lads’ ski trip.
Kate met wolfhound Domhnall, the Irish Guards’ mascot, at a St Patrick’s Day ceremony yesterday.
After watching a parade of 450 soldiers, the couple were offered pints of Guinness on their first official engagement since William’s trip.
It comes after he was criticised for partying in Swiss resort Verbiers last weekend and missing a Commonwealth Day service on Monday.
And having being filmed drinking Jagerbombs with pals and a hostess, Wills looked sheepish as he sipped his pint under Kate’s watchful eye.
Earlier, she presented sprigs of shamrocks to officers at Cavalry Barracks in Hounslow, West London. The couple later began a two-day visit to Paris, William’s first official tour there as second in line to the throne. The trip, aimed at strengthening ties ahead of key Brexit negotiations, began with a meeting with French President Francois Hollande. William and Kate were later to attend a black-tie dinner celebrating the entente cordiale between Britain and France, with celebrity guests. Their trip concludes today at the Six Nations rugby union match between France and Wales at the city’s Stade de France. The royal couple will also meet survivors of the terrorist attacks in Paris in 2015 and Nice last year. Despite the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death approaching, there are no plans for the Prince to visit Pont de l’Alma tunnel, where his mother’s car crashed in 1997.
