Carol: Cancer fight will not make us sad

- BY ASHLEIGH RAINBIRD

LAUGHTER Jean and Carol CAROL Vorderman yesterday “refused to be sad” as she celebrated Mother’s Day a week after her mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

The 56-year-old mathematician described her mum Jean, 88, as “beautiful inside and out”, and told how the family had “concentrated on being happy” during the day.

Jean had a Mother’s Day lunch in Bristol with her children, grandchildren and her one great grandchild.

Carol said: “We are laughing so much and she is having a lovely time. She refuses to let us be sad.”

The previous weekend, she had rushed Jean to hospital, where tests showed multiple tumours.

Jean, who has had cancer before, said: “At my age I don’t want any further operations or treatment.”
