Council bill is set to rise for 9 in 10 areas
MORE than 90% of local authorities in England will raise council tax bills next month, a survey has found.
Bills in many areas will rise by as much as 5% after councils got powers to raise extra for social care.
Only 22 of the 353 councils in England will freeze tax and just one, East Hampshire, will cut bills.
The Local Government Association said councils “desperately” needed cash for services. Tim Roache of the GMB dubbed the care levy “a sticking plaster on a gaping wound”.
