O’SHEA IS INSPIRED

-

OLDHAM 1 SHEFFIELD UTD 1 LEAGUE ONE

BLADES midfielder Jay O’Shea is hoping history repeats itself.

The Dubliner had a taste of success at Chesterfield and wants it at Bramall Lane too.

He was with the Spireites when they won promotion from League Two one week, and became Champions the next.

O’Shea has been on loan at Sheffield United since January and helped them to a point by cancelling out Tope Obadeyi’s opener for Oldham.

Leaders United are now 10 games unbeaten and O’Shea said: “The transition’s been nice for me – from relegation battle with Chesterfield to a promotion battle with the Blades. If I can be a part of that, that’s great.

“I had to wait for my chance, but you can’t just walk into a top team that’s doing well.”

BURY 0 FLEETWOOD 0 LEAGUE ONE

UWE ROSLER reckons Fleetwood’s promotion bid is about to be given a lift.

Rosler’s men are six points adrift of second spot – but with Nathan Pond and Martyn Woolford back, and Wes Burns close to a return, the boss is upbeat.

Rosler said: “Nathan was on the bench and hopefully more will be back and it makes me optimistic.”

Bury chief Lee Clark said: “The old adage is if you can’t win then don’t lose and our fourth successive clean sheet meant we didn’t do that.”

GILLINGHAM 0 PETERBORO 1 LEAGUE ONE

GILLINGHAM boss Ady Pennock has vowed not to “throw in the towel”, as his club hover just three points above the drop zone.

He said: “It’s going to be tough but we’re not throwing in the towel.”

Sub Junior Morais secured Peterborough’s victory late on, and manager Grant McCann said: “If you don’t aim for the top six, you’ll never get there.”
