BARGAIN SPRING BIKER GIRL BUYS
Spring is in the air, and the number of bikes on the roads last weekend confirmed that. Now is the time when many bikers dust off their machines in anticipation of the new season.
It’s also when we think about treating ourselves to some new accessories or clothing. Supermarket giant Aldi has been releasing a great-value spring selection of motorcycle gear for a while now – and this year, for the first time, it is launching a range for women.
Miss W has been checking it out, as you can see above. She says: “I really like this jacket. It looks pretty cool and is well-fitted, with adjusters so you can cinch the waist.
“It’s certified to Level 2 and has CE-approved back, shoulder and elbow protectors.
“It’s mostly black, with grey side panels and nice little flashes of reflective pink. I think it’s practical, but still stylish.”
The jacket has two front outer pockets, a large velcro rear and one inner, plus two air vents. There is a zip to connect to trousers. The jacket is available at £89.99.
Moving on to the trousers, Miss W reports: “Again, these are Level 2 certified and come with CE-approved protection in the knees. I like the waist adjusters and the side zips, which go from the bottom of the leg all the way up to the knee, so it’s easy to get them on over boots.”
The trousers are waterproof, but the fabric is still breathable. These retail at £69.99.
Aldi also offers ladies’ denim jeans, which are Level 1 certified and have protectors in the knees and abrasion-resistant aramid reinforcement in the seat, hips and knees. There are pockets to insert hip protectors, if required.
The jeans are fitted but have a generous boot-cut lower leg. They cost £39.99.
Other items in the range include a base layer (£6.99), long johns (£6.99) and a pure merino wool midlayer top, with double-layer ribbed collar, which Miss W was very keen on (£24.99).
There are also gloves, socks, waterproof jacket and trousers, a balaclava, bike cover, Bluetooth headset and more.
Aldi’s full motorcycle range, including the men’s selection, is in shops from today.
