BRADLEY’S BRAVERY

-

What a brave little chap cancer-sufferer Bradley Lowery is. His infectious smile belies the hardship and pain he has had to suffer for so much of his short life. He brings to mind another equally brave and cheerful young man, Stephen Sutton, who inspired us with his unbelievable courage.

Whatever the outcome of Bradley’s treatment, he has gathered some very special memories to keep him going for hopefully a long time to come. Everyone is rooting for you, Bradley!

I have just returned from Rome and when I was checking out of my hotel, I was told I had to pay a government tax of £6 per person per night.

I was on my own so it wasn’t a big deal for three nights, but imagine a family of four staying in Italy for a fortnight. That would be £336!

In answer to R Tandy’s letter (April 10) about using graphene to filter carbon emissions from diesel oil, unfortunately it’s not that simple. It’s all to do with the size of the molecule. Graphene filtering stops at 45g/ mol so carbon dioxide would squeeze through but diesel oil wouldn’t and would probably clog any filter used this way.

I just had to write in response to Shaun Watson who defended the Government’s assault on the benefits system (Madeuthink, April 10). I hope he does not lose his job or get sick, or then he may just need the welfare state.
