Meet YOUR National Lottery
Dozens of deserving good causes are celebrating the news they have scooped up to £50,000 of National Lottery funding to boost their work.
The winners of The People’s Projects, which were chosen by you in a public vote in every ITV region, will share £3million to help them take their work transforming lives and communities all over Britain to a new level.
This week some of the 57 winners were surprised with the good news by ITV camera crews, who captured their shock, disbelief and joy.
The People’s Projects is a partnership between the Big Lottery Fund, which is the largest distributor of National Lottery funding, ITV and The National Lottery. It gives you the chance to decide how some of the £30million raised for good causes by Lottery ticket sales every week is shared out.
Since 2005, when the initiative was known as The People’s Millions, The People’s Projects has helped award around £36million to over 770 good causes across the UK.
This year, 95 projects were shortlisted and their inspirational stories were told on ITV regional news before voting was opened to the public.
This week, the winning projects were told the good news, and even the runnerup projects that did not win could receive up to £5,000 funding. We were with ITV crews as they surprised some of the 57 winners from across the country with the good news.
