# I recently watched a Channel 4 programme called Undercover Boss.

It’s a good idea for company chiefs to go undercover to see how their employees work and to speak to them so they can understand something of their private lives and even help where necessary.

Wouldn’t it be nice if some of the bosses of our big firms went on to the shop floor and talked to staff to find out more about their lives?

They should realise it’s the employees who keep their companies going and that they deserve some recognitio­n. Mel Ingleton Coulsdon, Surrey

# In tribute to PC Keith Palmer, your headline on Tuesday said, “The thin blue line that will never be broken”. I wish it was true, but the thin blue line can only stand up against adversity for so long because of the Government’s savage cuts to police budgets.

# While I agree with increasing fines for litter-droppers (Madeuthink, April 11), is there any chance of fining cyclists who ride on pavements – I have never been knocked over by litter? Steve Shale, Liverpool
