ORDEAL Dr Dao is hauled off jet

THE doctor hauled off a United Airlines flight has said the ordeal was worse than fleeing his native Vietnam.

Dr David Dao lost two teeth and suffered a broken nose and concussion as he was ripped from his seat on the overbooked flight on Sunday to make way for staff.

He now needs a reconstructive op, lawyer Thomas Demetrio said. He added: “He said being dragged down the aisle was more horri- fying and harrowing than what he experienced leaving Vietnam.”

Mr Demetrio said the 69-yearold, who fled war-torn Saigon in the 1970s before settling in the US, is still “shaken” after his release from hospital on Wednesday.

He said a lawsuit would be filed against United soon. Dr Dao could get millions in a payout, experts say.

United shares fell 4% after footage was shared of Dr Dao being hauled off the flight from Chicago to Louisville, Kentucky. Over 150,000 people have signed an online petition calling for United boss Oscar Munoz to be sacked after he initially claimed in an email to staff Dr Dao had been “disruptive and belligerent”. Dr Dao’s daughter Crystal said: “This should have never happened to any human being.” Lawyers have filed an emergency court request for United to preserve evidence ahead of a hearing on Monday. Three airport security staff have been suspended.
