ACTRESS SPEND EASTER TOGETHER

- Hannah.hope@mirror.co.uk

on her lifestyle blog The Tig, she campaigns to make the world a better place and says she would give her last $10 “to someone who needed it more”.

But, in another sign she’s readying herself for life as a royal, Meghan this week closed down her blog of three years. As for charity work in the UK, she’s cautious not to step on the toes of the Duchess of Cambridge.

Meghan most certainly doesn’t want to be seen as trying to replace the Princess of Wales, who worked with charities including landmine campaigners Halo Trust. The source says: “Meghan knows she will have to be careful. She is well aware of the public’s perception of the people’s princess and won’t want to copy the same charitable moves Diana made.

“She also wouldn’t want Harry to think she’s copying what his beloved mum did, because she knows how much he reveres her work for charities.”

Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine, believes this is a clever plan as it is unlikely Meghan would be able to carry on acting if she does ever become part of the Royal Family as wife to Harry, 32.

“Harry and Meghan’s backgrounds are so different, they are from other planets,” Ingrid says. “Obviously, a major charity role would be a smart move for her. I think Meghan is pretty career savvy and that will work in her favour. But Angelina has worked tirelessly for years to get that UN ambassador role. I don’t think it will drop from heaven for Meghan.

“I find it difficult to see how she will be able to live under the spotlight while she continues in her acting career. Realistically, she can’t carry on being an actress. She’s not like Grace Kelly.”

Working with the UN’s refugee agency UNHCR for more than decade, Oscar winner Jolie has visited trouble spots in more than 30 countries, such as Darfur in Sudan and Afghan capital Kabul. The source, an LA-based friend, adds: “Meghan sees Angelina Jolie as a huge inspiration and perfect example of a woman who balances family, work and charity drives. She has often spoken about how she’s impressed with her bravery to go into war zones.”

They added: “For women Meghan’s age Angelina was an acting influence, but she meant a lot more to her. She feels the actress’s morals are something she strives for.”

A self-proclaimed foodie, it is also believed Meghan hopes to follow the example of former US First Lady Michelle Obama, who led the Let’s Move! public health campaign.

The source says: “It’s no secret Meghan loves to cook, and indeed prides herself on PLAN Star hopes to build new life here with Harry

advising friends on what’s healthy. Before meeting Harry, she had pushed to land her own cooking show on US TV. “While it is early days, [the UK] would be a natural home for her to align with a charity or government-backed health campaign to encourage young and old to eat healthy.” And although the couple have tried to keep their relationship out of the spotlight, the source continues: “As they spend more time together, she with Harry will work out the right balance of exposure. Harry loves the fact she is a working woman who has a very independent spirit and fierce desire to be a breadwinner.” But one thing could upset the couple’s balance in the kitchen. The source jokes: “Meg loves to cook nice food, but throw in hot sauce with her dishes. It divides friends. No one knows whether Harry has been sold on that quite yet. He is a ketchup guy.”
