Mac hails rampage by Rhinos

-

LEEDS coach Brian McDermott hailed a top team effort after this eight-try rout of Hull.

The Rhinos bounced back from defeat at Warrington in spectacular style to stay in the mix at the top of the table.

Liam Sutcliffe added nine goals as Leeds got their season back on track with their biggest-ever victory at the Black and Whites.

McDermott said: “From the start we controlled the game,” he said. “When we got down their end we scored points.

“That’s not to say Hull didn’t have a reaction – they did.

“It’s not easy when you keep having to tackle and after a period of time that catches up with you. We used the ball well and got some good offloads.”

McDermott also knew that if his side were to collect the two points they would need to pull together – and he had few complaints on that front.

“We were good across the board,” he added. “It was a collective effort and certainly it’s not the easiest place to play at Hull.

“I didn’t think Hull were that poor. We didn’t find the game easy, it was about us being good.”

Hull coach Lee Radford cut a disappointed figure afterwards and admitted that poor defending had let his team down.

“Conceding 50 at home is the most frustrating thing,” he said.

“We don’t have time to mope about it. More important now is Monday’s game at Leigh. I wish we could play tomorrow.

“That was a chance for us to go second. There are a lot of issues with defence, but this is our dip, our rut.

“We had the best defence four weeks ago, but the confidence factor is unbelievable. It’s just not happening for us and we look a shell of ourselves.”
