Nuttall is now beyond a joke
After locking himself away from the mocking media following his election manifesto launch, UKIP leader Paul Nuttall compared himself to Mahatma Gandhi: “First they laugh at you, then they attack you, and then you win.”
Which, naturally, led to more mocking.
But, to be fair to the bald visionary I’ve often seen walking around Bootle in sandals and loincloth, followed by thousands of adoring disciples, he and Gandhi have much in common: Neither played for Tranmere Rovers, had a PhD from Hope University, lived in Stoke or lost close friends at Hillsborough.
The only difference being that because Nuttall claimed all of those things, unlike Gandhi, no-one could get past the “first they laugh at you” bit.
