BATTERING AT BRIDGE FUELS RON REVENGE

-

RONALD KOEMAN has vowed to blow the title race wide open as he looks to avenge Everton’s most disastrous display of the campaign.

The Toffees boss (above) admits the 5-0 drubbing at Stamford Bridge in November was the “only game this season when we had no chance”.

And he is on a revenge mission that could sabotage the visitors’ title hopes.

If leaders Chelsea lose at Goodison in what looks the toughest game of their run-in and Spurs beat Arsenal it would cut the gap at the summit to a point.

He insisted his men were ready to make it happen, for their own reasons. “The title isn’t done, the gap from second to first is four points,” said the Dutchman. “What happens on Sunday can be really decisive.

“But it’s not in my opinion the most important – we like to win for our fans, ourselves. If that means the title race is more open, that’s nice for the Premier League but that’s not the reason we like to beat them.

‘‘We’d like to beat them to show we’re strong at home and maybe with three points on Sunday, we have chances for sixth or fifth position in the table. Our last game of the season is Arsenal away and still we have the possibility to catch them.”

Defeat at Chelsea was the most embarrassing of his time in charge of Everton and he said: “We had no chance from start to finish to get one point out of the game.

‘‘It will be different this Sunday.”
