Campbell’s kingdom a tough ask

- BY DAVID ANDERSON

LUKE CAMPBELL is adamant his path will lead to a world title – despite enduring a tougher journey than his pal Anthony Joshua.

Like Joshua, 29-year-old Campbell (above) won silver at the 2011 World Amateur Championships and gold at the 2012 Olympics in London.

After a shock defeat in December 2015, the Hull fighter faces Darleys Perez in a WBA lightweight title eliminator on tonight’s Wembley undercard.

Campbell said: “I’ve always had to go the hard route, not once in my boxing career have things come easy for me.

“I’ve made a lot of sacrifices going away to train in America and I will be stood here one day as the main event on a show like this.”

Scott Quigg faces Viorel Simion in an IBF featherweight title eliminator with new coach Freddie Roach claiming: “He’s the only guy I know who works harder than Manny Pacquiao.

“Hard work pays off – and Scott will be beautiful. You will see a lot of changes in this fight and whatever comes after, we want a world title.”
