Herrera warns that Celta fit Bil

ANDER HERRERA has warned his Manchester United team-mates not to underestimate Celta Vigo.

The Spanish side are currently 11th in La Liga and were beaten 3-0 at home by Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

But Spain midfielder Herrera, who joined United for £28million from Bilbao in 2014, said: “Celta are a very complicated team, who have a lot of quality players in their side.

“In theory, we are the strongest team left in the competition but we have to respect all of our rivals because otherwise, they can surprise us.

“My United team-mates ask me all about Celta Vigo, as a lot is at stake for us in this tie.

“I tell them to remember that Bilbao side who won at Old Trafford in the Europa League five years ago, because Celta are very similar to them.”

Herrera was part of that Bilbao side which knocked United out of Europe – winning both legs in 2012 – and said Celta have the same kind of offensive mindset as his former club.

He added: “They are an attack-minded side. It doesn’t matter whether they play at home or away, they always attack and are dangerous.

“Celta like to have possession and they rely on high pressing. They make life difficult for you and they have good quality players like Iago Aspas up front.”

Herrera’s father, Pedro Herrera Sancristobal, played for Celta, and the 27-year-old admitted: “It’s true and many of my United team-mates don’t know that.

“My father played for Celta and then he worked for the club for several years.

“I was very young then. But, of course, I have a lot of sympathy for Celta, we have a lot of friends in Vigo.”
