MAHREZ TO EXIT FOXES
FROM BACK PAGE this summer. Mahrez signed a new four-year deal with the Foxes last year, soon after clinching the PFA Player of the Year award, but is understood to have grown unsettled this season at the King Power.
The midfielder’s relationship with former manager Claudio Ranieri deteriorated before the Italian’s controversial departure in February.
A number of clubs have already been made aware that Mahrez is keen to return to the Champions League after reaching this season’s quarter-finals with the Foxes.
Mahrez was unhappy last week to have been substituted in Leicester’s 1-0 win over West Brom, and Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare admitted to holding talks with the player afterwards.
French club Marseille, set for a big summer of spending, are keen on Mahrez and could look to offset his desperation for Champions League football with a lucrative pay packet and the chance to spearhead the club’s resurgence.
The Algeria international has scored 11 goals for club and country this season. His last came in the Premier League in the 3-2 defeat at West Ham on March 18.
The midfielder is not the only Foxes star considering his future.
As Mirror Sport revealed earlier this week, keeper Kasper Schmeichel (above) is also poised to quit Leicester to continue his career elsewhere.
