Ferne stress over arrest of tot’s dad
TEARFUL Ferne McCann has talked of the stress she has endured after the father of her unborn baby was accused of a nightclub acid attack.
In her first interview since Arthur Collins was arrested, reality TV star Ferne added: “It’s not going to be easy but I’m going to be the best possible mum I can be.”
She said: “It’s been such a stressful, surreal situation but I’m actually feeling good and positive.
“Because I’m pregnant that’s given me strength and hope to get through this.”
Ferne, 26, told the This Morning show yesterday: “This isn’t how I imagined my first pregnancy to be, but it’s not about me, it’s about this baby.” She became emotional as she added: “My priority is the baby.”
Her tears prompted show host Holly Willoughby to hug her. Ferne, who found fame on The Only Way is Essex and I’m a Celebrity, added: “The public have been so amazing, so supportive, and that’s what’s got me through.
“Reading through my private messages has been so touching... From single mums and dads to people who have never even seen me on TV.”
Ferne, who last year became a showbiz reporter on ITV show This Morning, split from scaffolder Collins, 25, after he was named as a suspect.
The attack in Hackney, East London, on Easter Monday left 14 people burnt. Two were blinded in one eye. Collins, of Broxbourne, Herts, was arrested after a six-day manhunt.
He has been charged with 14 counts of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and one count of throwing corrosive fluid on a person with intent to cause GBH.
He has been remanded in custody until a court hearing on May 22.
Ferne is said to have told him about the pregnancy days before the attack.
