Youngsters ‘get lost in world of social media & dark web’

-

A VOLUNTEER for South Manchester Muslim Community Association and governor at Burnage Academy for Boys – where Salman Adebi was a pupil – says programmes, workshops and seminars have been set up in schools to educate youngsters on the dangers of IS. Khan Moghal said: “The Muslim community in South Manchester is devastated.

“What’s most troubling is the man lived among us, he was from Manchester, he went to school in Manchester...

“These young men get trapped and get sucked into the ideology of ISIS. It’s really difficult to spot such extremism among us because most of these young people are getting lost in the world of social media and the dark web, and, in a free society, we can’t police everything.

“More resources need to be made available to combat extremism.”
