What do you get if one of the blokes behind The Inbetweene­rs writes a sitcom about double glazing salesmen in 1983 Essex and persuades two of the stars of that hit show to be in it?

That’s right. You get a sweary new BBC Two sitcom that pretty much imagines what Jay (James Buckley) and Simon (Joe Thomas) from The Inbetweene­rs would have been like had they been double glazing salesmen.

Don’t take that as a criticism, though. White Gold works a treat.

And as most of the comedy gold comes from the banter between the characters, you don’t need to have lived through the 1980s to appreciate it.
