Kat and Alfie have only been in Redwater for five minutes and there’s been a murder. And it’s no coincidence either – if only Kat, sorry Kathleen (Jessie Wallace), had kept her big trap shut.

So it seems her long-lost son is doe-eyed Dermott the vicar (Oisin Stack), who ruthlessly drowned Lance (Ian McElhinney) after finding out about his real mother. But Kat has no idea her son is an unhinged murderer.

Although Alfie (Shane Richie) smells trouble. His brain tumour seems to have turned him into a fortune teller. “I got scared something was coming, something horrible.”

As the community reels from the news of Lance’s death, Dermott skips off to confession.

And everyone encourages the Moons to go to the funeral, but Alfie thinks they should stay away, with Kathleen having done enough meddling.

The other thing about funerals is that relatives descend from out of town – and they are not always welcome. Perhaps Walford wasn’t so bad after all.
