POGBA’S TRIBUTE AFTER UNITED LIFT EUROPA LEAGUE TROPHY

- FROM DAVID ANDERSON in Stockholm

PAUL POGBA dedicated Manchester United’s emotional Europa League success to the victims of Monday’s terror attack.

He opened the scoring against Ajax and claimed United wanted to win for those killed and injured at Manchester Arena. “We know

things like this are very sad, all over the world,” said the France star. “In London and Paris. We had to focus, it was very important. We won for Manchester, we worked for them, for the country. We play for England, for Manchester and the people who died.”

Pogba was delighted to add the Europa League to the EFL Cup and Community Shield, adding: “We did it, we’re very proud. They said we had a bad season, but we did it. We have three trophies, we will enjoy it now.”

His goal and the win was especially poignant for Pogba and he pointed to the heavens in memory of his late dad, Fassou Antoine, after scoring the first-half opener. Henrikh Mkhitaryan bagged the second as United sealed a Champions League place.

At the final whistle neighbours Manchester City posted a tweet congratulating United (right).
