No one was sure how the world would react to Vin Diesel returning with the third instalment of this preposterous extreme sports and espionage franchise. Especially after his character was supposedly killed off before the previous one, back in 2005.
On a budget of £65million, it disappointed in the US by taking only £35million. But it reaped a staggering £126million in China as part of a healthy £265million global box office.
The glossy high-octane nonsense sees Samuel L Jackson’s spy boss attempting to recruit Brazilian footballer Neymar Jr, a move which prompts Cage back into action. It’s all in a day’s work for an extreme sports nut-turned government operative, of course.
