No one was sure how the world would react to Vin Diesel returning with the third instalment of this prepostero­us extreme sports and espionage franchise. Especially after his character was supposedly killed off before the previous one, back in 2005.

On a budget of £65million, it disappoint­ed in the US by taking only £35million. But it reaped a staggering £126million in China as part of a healthy £265million global box office.

The glossy high-octane nonsense sees Samuel L Jackson’s spy boss attempting to recruit Brazilian footballer Neymar Jr, a move which prompts Cage back into action. It’s all in a day’s work for an extreme sports nut-turned government operative, of course.
