Injustice 2

- By AODHAN GREGORY

A follow-up to NetherRealm’s 2013 beat ’em up Injustice: Gods Among Us, Injustice 2 sees DC Comics heroes and villains square up against each other on the battlefield.

Set in an alternate universe ruled by a corrupt Superman, Batman is trying to restore order.

The Dark Knight’s job is made more difficult by a cadre of bad guys looking to fill the power vacuum – including an evil alien called Brainiac with designs on the entire planet.

What sets Injustice 2 apart from most fighting games is the ability to knock opponents out of the arena, resulting in hilarious episodes where characters are smashed through buildings.

The storyline is a bit clunky in places but narrative and gameplay sit together well. And the cut-scenes between fights are truly cinematic.

Plus, the thrill of watching Batman and Superman going toe-to-toe never gets old.
