Hotter air balloons

-

DOZENS of colourful hot air balloons soar in a perfect blue sky yesterday as the heatwave burned on.

They were snapped during the inaugural Balloons In Durham festival while drifting over the city’s cathedral.

Elsewhere, people were hitting the beach to enjoy the sun – or finding ways to cool off. But things look set to change for most today as thunder– storms work their way up the country.

Weather warnings are in place for most of the nation with some areas expecting a month’s rain in an hour.

The Met Office said worst-hit areas could have “sudden flooding of roads, homes and businesses”.
