HOW GIANT GERMAN TURNED THE AIR BLUE

- BY SIMON BIRD

GERMAN giant Michael Hefele hopes to get his celebrations right if Huddersfield win at Wembley today.

The cult hero had a series of mishaps as the Terriers fought their way to the play-off final.

He jumped into the wrong end, mistaking the blue and white of Sheffield Wednesday supporters for his own, after the semi-final victory.

And his declaration that it was a “f ****** dream” to beat Leeds earlier in the season – live on Sky – has been made into a popular fan T-shirt.

Hefele said of his semifinal confusion: “I was so emotional and just wanted to jump into the fans after we won.

“I was nearly over to them when I noticed everybody was sticking their fingers up at me. “They were saying some bad words. so I was like ‘ok, maybe I go back a little bit.’ “I went towards the blue and white. It was Sheffield! Reading are also blue so there could be another mistake!” He has also used a bow-and-arrow celebration against Wednesday and explained: “The boys wanted to see what I had in my magic pockets. I thought I would do a little Robin Hood. “Robin Hood takes from the rich and gives to the poor. When you see Sheffield, they are a huge club. Compared to them, we are small.”
