No clear figure on care costs

-

VOTERS still do not know how much social care would cost after the Tories’ embarrassing Dementia Tax U-turn.

Theresa May ditched manifesto plans to scrap a cap limiting how much people must pay for their own care.

But yesterday Home Secretary Amber Rudd said the Tories did not know “where the cap will be”.

Families fear losing their homes and savings to pay for care. In 2011, a Government inquiry suggested setting it at £35,000. Recently, measures in force in 2020 put the cap at £72,000.
