KILLER FACTS
Donald Neilson got four life sentences in July 1976. He was told he would never be released from prison.
His wife Irene was imprisoned for eight months for banking postal orders which he had stolen from post offices.
In 2009 he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease. He died aged 75 on December 18, 2011, after being transferred from Norwich Prison to a hospital. He had a chest infection and pneumonia.
