BIRTH FAME
Kyron’s dramatic delivery was one of the most emotional on the first series.
Mum Leoni Geddes, 30, struggled through a 48-hour labour with the help of mum Maggie, before doctors decided they needed to perform a caesarian.
Kyron was not breathing and doctors battled to resuscitate him. Leoni says: “It only took a few minutes, but it felt like the longest part of the whole thing.
“My mum was there and I could see the worry in her face. Then we suddenly heard this big scream, it was a flood of relief.”
Leoni was in hospital for a week, but was rushed back in a day after going home as her wound was infected. The teaching assistant, of Southampton, says: “Once I recovered I was raring to go with motherhood. “One of the main reasons I did One Born was so he could watch his birth one day. I thought he might find it gross, but he was so sensitive, it was lovely. “On his first day of pre-school, the teacher said she felt like she had a special bond with Kyron because she saw him being born.” Kyron, now seven, jokes: “My friends know I was on TV, they ask for my autograph.” He adds: “It made me realise what my mum went through, so I’m going to buy the best Mother’s Day presents.”
