There is always going to be an empty space in Prince William’s life

-

I AM not surprised it has taken 20 years for Prince William to speak out — because he probably has not wanted to face it before.

This Heads Together campaign seems to have focused his mind and acted like a trigger. The best way to publicise something is to put yourself into it.

He and Harry can get their feelings across for the first time. He does not normally talk so frankly so it was very interesting. Prince William does point out it was very raw because everyone else had a part of his mother.

It’s really like their mother was sort of kidnapped from them. She belonged to everyone else and they kept completely silent about it all.

This is a very good thing for them and draws attention to this important campaign — they obviously feel passionate about it.

Two decades ago, there is no way William and Harry were made to walk though the streets of London behind their mother’s coffin when William actually didn’t want to.

It was Prince Phillip that persuaded him. Prince Phillip said, ‘Look, I’ll come with you’. It was really, really nice. There is always going to be an empty space in William’s life but now he has immense love and support from his wife and family.
