‘£500m NHS bill for Brexit’

THE NHS could have to find an extra £500million a year due to Brexit.

A report said hospitals could be crippled if retired expats return in the event of the EU’s S1 scheme, giving access to healthcare abroad, being axed.

And the Nuffield Trust said the bill may be higher if medicine prices rise.

Author Mark Dayan said: “The NHS and social care were already under pressure. But if we handle it badly, leaving the EU could make these problems even worse.”
