Star ends rift now she’s split from husband
GRIEVING Mel B has publicly reunited with her mother, putting an end to their bitter eight-year rift.
The singer and mum Andrea got together to mark Mel’s 42nd birthday on Monday in a tribute to her dad Martin, who lost a battle with cancer in March.
In a touching message, the Spice Girl wrote on her Instagram page: “My eyes are closed but I see and feel you dad.
“You are missed every second of everyday me my mum my 3 daughters today celebrated you for being the most important man in our lives.”
A photo showed her and Andrea surrounded by Mel’s three daughters – Phoenix, Angel and Madison.
Mel wore a golden dress with red flower embroidery on the hem, while all five had flowers woven into their hair.
Martin died at the age of 63 after a five-year battle with multiple myeloma. Andrea and Mel had fallen out over Mel’s now estranged husband Stephen Belafonte.
Multi-millionaire Mel has mended fences with her mum as she fights a nasty divorce battle with Belafonte in the courts of Los Angeles.
Their 10-year marriage was scarred by tales of domestic violence, always denied by 42-year-old American Belafonte.
Last month a source told the Mirror Mel’s mum felt things were now on the mend following their painful parting. The insider said at the time: “Andrea believes now she will finally be reunited with Mel. The years have been long and hard and she has paid a heavy price by not seeing her daughter and missing her granddaughters grow up. “But she did what she did for the right reasons and her concerns have finally been vindicated.” In April, Andrea could not hide her delight at her daughter’s split. She said on Twitter: “For the first time in almost 10 years I can go to bed knowing my daughter and the kids are safe, no more abuse for any of us.” Former X Factor judge Mel had not posted anything on social media in more than 11 weeks following her public separation from Belafonte. Last week he broke his silence with a series of cryptic messages. “I’d rather be an honest a**ehole than a well liked LIAR,” Belafonte wrote on Instagram. While another message said: “The most dangerous liars are those who think they are telling the truth.”
Another post was a photo of his five-year-old daughter Madison with whom he is only allowed supervised visits.
She is hugging a TV with his face on, in what appears to be a video call.
He captioned it: “Sometimes you stay quiet for obvious reasons!!”
Spice Girls fans were glad to see Mel back on social media with one follower telling the star: “Welcome back Melanie! Glad you had a good time with the girls and your mum!”
Meanwhile, Andrea showed off her flower arrangement skills and gave fans a glimpse inside Mel’s Hollywood home in another snap she put online.
