MAHREZ: I’M OUT OF HERE
Foxes ace demands a move and more stars could follow
LEICESTER face meltdown after Riyad Mahrez demanded to leave – and other stars want a move.
Craig Shakespeare (right) is yet to be confirmed as boss for next season, adding to tension within the club. A
year after their fairytale Premier League title triumph, Algerian Mahrez is eyeing the exit door after staying last summer.
Mahrez, a £35million target for Monaco, said: “I have informed the club that I feel now is the time for me to move on. I had a
good discussion with the chairman last summer and we agreed I would stay for another year.
“However, I am fiercely ambitious and feel that now is the time to move on to a new experience.”
Mahrez, the 2016 PFA Player of the Year, was wanted by Arsenal 12 months ago. And his departure could be the first of several.
Keeper Kasper Schmeichel has changed agent with a view to landing a bigger club – and Foxes skipper Wes Morgan is being chased by Newcastle, who are dangling a huge final pay-day in front of the 33-year-old centre-half.
