ANDY: KLIZAN ANTICS DON’T WORK ON ME

- FROM NEIL McLEMAN

ANDY MURRAY is ready for the dirty tricks of sneaky Slovak Martin Klizan in the second round of the French Open today.

The world No.50 (below) was accused of faking injury by his French opponent during his opening-round win – the latest in a long list of controversies involving the lefthander.

Murray (above) infamously lost focus and the 2015 Australian Open final when Novak Djokovic used rope-adope tactics before storming back to win.

But the Wimbledon champion said: “Tanking sets is not good for the fans or anyone watching. It can be tough but I’ve played well over 800 matches on the tour so I’ve seen pretty much everything.

“There wouldn’t be too much that would surprise me or shock me when I’m out there now.

“If he’s tanking sets against me, I’m happy with that. He’s an unorthodox player.

“He’ll go through patches in the match where he’s playing some unbelievable stuff, and then he drops off a little bit and plays some strange shots, which may appear like he’s not interested but that’s how he plays the game.” After their fiery match on Tuesday, where Klizan lost the fourth set 6-0, world No.285 Laurent Lokoli said: “For two sets, he fought like a dog and suddenly, when I did a drop shot, he no longer ran for it.”

Aljaz Bedene was knocked out of the French Open last night by Jiri Vesely, but claimed he still wanted to play for Great Britain.

Bedene – who suggested he could switch back to Slovenia to play in the Olympics – said: “I’ve been fighting to get a chance to play in the Davis Cup and Olympic Games for GB, and I’m still hoping.”
