Eden gets his call-up

- BY GARETH WALKER

CASTLEFORD winger Greg Eden has been rewarded for his remarkable try-scoring run with a first call-up to the England training squad.

Eden (below) will again work under coach Wayne Bennett, having spent two years with him at Brisbane Broncos, after his current run of four consecutive hat-tricks for the Tigers.

Team-mate Paul McShane also earned his first call-up in a 27-man squad that will meet for regular sessions ahead of the World Cup.

Dropping out of the selection made earlier in the year are Sam Tomkins, Matty Smith, Leroy Cudjoe, Danny Houghton, Jamie Shaul and Brett Ferres.

Bennett, whose side beat Samoa last month, said: “The squad has been reduced, but that’s not to say the door still isn’t open.

“The 13 Super League players that travelled over for the Samoa Test have been included again - I want them to share their experiences.”
