BUST THAT MYTH ABOUT... Cellulite
Myth 1: Cellulite is just excess fat
Cellulite involves fat, because bulging fat cells are part of the equation, but it’s really the connective strands of collagen fibres between your skin and muscle that create the lumpy, dimpling effect.
Myth 2: Firming creams and lotions can reduce cellulite
Nothing applied to the skin gets rid of cellulite. You cannot trust the hordes of beauty product companies trying to sell you cellulite-blasting lotions boasting antioxidants and caffeine. There are no studies that show these creams used by themselves offer any improvement. In some cases, the ingredients in these products cause skin reactions or rashes.
Myth 3: You can remove cellulite by exercising a certain area
Cellulite-targeting workouts are a fiction. Cellulite or fat on your thighs will burn at the same rate as on your belly. So, while you’re helping the area you’re working on to appear more toned, you’re not burning fat there any quicker than you are on the rest of your body. The more fit you are, the less susceptible you’ll be to cellulite.
