ARE WE HAVING TOO MUCH SEX?

-

Dear Coleen

I have been married for eight months and since day one my husband and I have been very sexually active.

Both of us enjoy sex a lot, so I don’t think we’re overdoing it.

We have intercourse every night and every morning. And on weekends we do it many times a day.

Although the sex is spontaneous and enjoyable, we are dedicating most of our time to it. I’d like to know if this has a downside or if it could have any harmful effects physically, as we do it so often?

Coleen says

Well, your letter has had a harmful effect on me because I’m really jealous!

I think it’s fabulous and I don’t think you have anything to worry about – you’re newlyweds and in that wonderful honeymoon phase where you’re both really into each other. So no, it’s not harmful.

If you were telling me that one of you wanted this much sex and the other didn’t, then I’d say you have a problem.

Maybe you’re worrying because your friends are raising their eyebrows and thinking it’s odd you do it so much, but I’ll guarantee they’re just jealous and would like more of it themselves. Maybe they think you’re bragging.

What’s good is that you’re sexually compatible, which is a great foundation for a long and happy marriage.

And although your sex drives will probably slow down naturally, hopefully they’ll still be in sync.
