Count on youth

Hippies, the Hillman Avenger and my first vote. It was 1970. I did then as I have done every election in the following 47 years. I voted Labour. Back then, an unfancied Ted Heath defied the odds and won.

It was an upset for the history books but it reminds us that in this election, there is everything to play for.

I say to young voters especially: “This is your chance, your time.

“The Tories are banking on you not turning up next Thursday. Surprise them... make this your election.”

The future is yours.
