Start kidding yourself Pep

MANCHESTER CITY have started the summer as they clearly intend to go on, spending heavily. It is hard not to love the way Pep Guardiola (left) plays and his team, despite not winning a thing, gave us some sensational football in his first season in England. But what would be more lovable is if he played that way with at least one or two of the gems coming through an academy system stocked with talent. That would show what a brilliant coach he is.

If the only route to playing and winning Pep’s way is to spend, spend, spend, it hardly makes him the great revolutionary we wanted him to be.
