Labour plans to go it alone to keep their election vows

-

LABOUR will storm ahead alone with its blueprint for Britain if it becomes the largest party in a hung parliament.

Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornberry said the party would form a minority government and put forward a Queen’s Speech and Budget.

She said: “If people want to vote for it then good, and if they don’t want to vote for it they’re going to have to go back and speak to their constituents and explain to them why it is that we have a Tory government instead.

“If we are the largest party, we go ahead – no deals.”

Mr Corbyn said the party was “determined to win this election”.

He said: “We’re not doing deals, we’re not doing coalitions, we’re not doing any agreements.”

They were speaking in Pitsea, Essex, where Labour came third behind UKIP in 2015. In a major Brexit speech, Mr Corbyn hit back after Theresa May said he would be “weak” and “alone and naked” in EU negotiations, which are due to start just 11 days after the general election.

He said her threat to walk away with no deal was “alienating everyone” and could spell “economic disaster”.

And he tore into Mrs May’s Tory team for “fibbing to the British people”. He said: “Theresa May’s approach risks a jobs meltdown.”

He will today pledge “a million good jobs” and £250billion of funds through a National Investment Bank.
