‘Pupils use online scams to embarrass their teachers’
TEACHERS are being humiliated by social media tricks played by pupils, an expert has claimed.
One teacher was duped by a pupil posing as a man on a dating website. She tried to meet her “suitor” and the pupil later shared an image with pals of her being stood up.
Another pupil created a fake Facebook account posing as a teacher who did not use the site. Friend requests were sent to the teacher’s colleagues who granted access to their profiles. The student then printed off embarrassing pictures. One teacher filmed bending over found the footage uploaded to YouTube with crude comments. Emma Robertson, co-founder of Digital Awareness UK, told of the scams and said: “Teachers will be really upset and come to us for one-to-one advice.”
