Do you know who I am? Yes, you’re Ronnie Pickering and you’re nicked
Road rage video ranter punched ‘drug dealer’
ROAD rage ranter Ronnie Pickering, whose “Do you know who I am?” video went viral, has been at it again.
This time Pickering, 56, drew blood and ended up in court after lashing out at a man for allegedly drug dealer near his home.
Pickering – known in his bare-knuckle fight days as “One Punch Ronnie” – confronted the man outside a woman neighbour’s property.
Asked what he was doing, the man told Pickering he was “hiding”, which made Ronnie lose his temper, a court heard. He was accused of unleashing a flurry of punches, hitting his victim with a hook to the head and cutting his lip.
Summarising the case at Hull magistrates court, District Judge Frederick Rutherford said: “He doesn’t accept the complainant’s excuse, that he is hiding from a friend who he doesn’t want to see.
“Mr Pickering perhaps loses his temper. He is angered at the strange explanation, he is protective of the property, and his own because he says he’s been burgled twice, and strikes out.
“When arrested he is under emotional strain because he is taken to hospital with chest pains. But he is discharged.” Pickering at first did not accept any of his punches landed until District Judge Rutherford pointed out the injury.
The judge referred to what Pickering told police: “He says he must have made contact. He is sorry for his behaviour.”
Pickering conferred with his solicitor then admitted assault on April 28.
He was cautioned for assault in 2011 and last appeared in court in 1999, the court heard. Pickering was told he had reacted “very badly” and was discharged conditionally for two years.
He must pay £100 compensation to the victim, which will be deducted from his benefits.
In September 2015, moped rider Steve Middleton filmed Pickering shouting at him from inside his Citroen Xsara.
He repeatedly asks: “Do you know who I am?”, before yelling three times, “I’m Ronnie Pickering!”
He challenges Middleton to a “bareknuckled fight” in the street and bellows: “I’ll f***ing show you then who I am!”
Pickering, of Bransholme, Hull, who has lost 3.5 stone after finding fame, has said he feels like a “young man again”.
