Terror probe on Aussie gunman

AUSTRALIAN police are probing a gunman, shot dead in Melbourne yesterday, over possible terror links.

He had called the Channel Seven newsroom after taking a woman hostage and reporter Paul Dowsley said: “My colleague could hear a woman screaming in the background and the male caller told my colleague, ‘This is for IS, this is for al-Qaeda’.”

The unnamed gunman, who had shot a man dead in the apartment block’s foyer, wounded three officers.
