Corrie form is arresting

- IAN HYLAND on last night’s telly

Following last week’s gripping 9pm episodes, I think we can all agree Coronation Street looks to be back on fabulous form.

Without wishing to spoil the results for anyone who is doing a Likely Lads with tonight’s pre-recorded British Soap Awards, I have a feeling Corrie will have a much healthier haul next year.

But I’m starting to think Theresa May is on the writing team – it feels like someone is trying to justify her police cuts, as Corrie has a citizen policing epidemic right now.

Consider the evidence. Ken Barlow wrapped up the “Who pushed Ken?” plot – and he even took care of the police’s paperwork. Sally’s family solved the “Who is Sally’s stalker?” riddle and the Rodwell/Platt team is close to smashing Nathan’s grooming ring.

Maybe they can help me with some puzzles. Firstly, did the Gazette’s “Splash Back!” headline refer to a solved raid at a kitchen shop or is ITV bringing back Vernon Kay’s celebrity diving nonsense?

And, secondly, did Leanne’s revelation that Nick “streams all his music now” confirm he is the worst man in the world and we are well shot of him or was it an acceptance that we must move with the times?

Clue: Nick has a lot of previous that would support the former.
