C4, 8pm It could be classed as a first-world problem, but it really seems as if there are too many supermarke­ts, too many brands, too many versions of the same thing – basically too much choice.

And is it just us, or half the time does it feel like it could well be exactly the same product just with different packaging and wildly different price tags?

Well, Channel 4 and a panel of foodie and drinky-type expert people want to help us cut through all the marketing and packaging, and just tell us which tastes best.

They’ve enlisted a panel made up of the likes of Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jr, food critic Ray Jayner and restaurant manager (and First Dates hottie) Fred Sirieix, who sit around a conveyor belt and blind taste each of the products, to come up with the overall winner we can all put on our shopping list.

This week they’re sampling apple pie, Scotch whisky, lamb shank and baked beans.

So which brand will come up trumps? (Groan.)
